Initial Install & Account Setup Guide
Welcome to EventEngine. Now that you’ve installed the app and connected it to your HubSpot portal, follow these four essential setup steps to get your account ready:
- Publish your email templates.
- Turn on the EventEngine workflow.
- Create a single event page.
- Create your event listing page.
Step 1: Publish Your Email Templates
EventEngine installs 8 pre-built email templates into your HubSpot portal. Before any emails can be sent, each template must be reviewed, customized, and published.
Instructions:
-
Open each EventEngine email template.
-
Customize the following:
-
Replace the logo with your own.
-
Edit the boilerplate text as needed.
-
Update the From address (defaults to the email of the user who installed the app).
-
Adjust the From name if needed (this was set during onboarding).
-
-
Click Review and publish to activate each email.
Repeat these steps for all 8 templates to ensure they’re live and ready to use.
Step 2: Turn On the Workflow
The EventEngine workflow handles automated event communications. You’ll need to activate it after reviewing each step.
Instructions:
-
Go to Automation > Workflows in your HubSpot portal.
-
Locate and open the EventEngine Email Communications workflow.
-
Review each Send Email action in the workflow branches.
-
Click Save on each email action after reviewing.
-
When finished, click Turn On in the top-right corner.
The workflow is now active and will send automated emails to event registrants.
Step 3: Create a Single Event Page
This is the dynamic page that displays individual event details.
Instructions:
-
Go to Website > Website Pages and create a new page.
-
Name the page (e.g.,
EventEngine Single Page
). -
Choose a single-column, full-width template.
-
In the page editor, drag in the EventEngine Single module.
-
This module pulls event content dynamically from your HubDB table.
-
-
Customize the layout, typography, and colors to match your branding.
Page settings:
-
Page title: Automatically displays the event title.
-
Slug (URL): Add something like
/event
so all events are grouped under a common section. -
Meta description: Pulled dynamically from event data.
-
Under Advanced Settings, set the HubDB source to
EventEngine Pages
.
Once complete, publish the page.
Step 4: Create Your Event Listing Page
This page displays all upcoming events and links users to individual event pages.
Instructions:
-
Either create a new page or add the module to an existing one.
-
If creating new, name it (e.g.,
EventEngine Listing Page
). -
Choose a single-column, full-width template.
-
Drag in the EventEngine Listing module.
-
In the module settings (left sidebar), select the Single Event Page you just created.
-
This ensures each event links correctly to its detail page.
-
-
Click Apply Changes, then publish the module and the page.
Final Check
Once all four steps are complete, your EventEngine instance is ready to use. You can now create and promote events, send automated emails, and direct visitors to your listing and event landing pages.
